a dog's day out

We've known for quite some time that Oliver was need of an trim but there was no way I was going near him with scissors. He moves too much and I'm afraid I'll stab him in the eye... no one wants that, especially Oliver. And we weren't exactly sure how old a dog needed to be before he goes to the groomers, I mean, no one thought (well no one in our house thought) a 5 month old would go to the groomers. Surely, he must have to be older. NOPE - we were wrong.

Saturday morning the Husband and I are were discussing how badly he needed a trim, I mean, you couldn't even see his eyes, so we whipped out the lap top and checked out PetSmart's grooming section of their website. I read through every frequently asked question and answer and decided to give them a call to set up an appointment. To our surprise and luck they had an appointment open up and they could take us if we went right then, so we got dressed, loaded the pup up and off we went. We arrived at PetSmart and for some reason they were surprised at how hyper he was, umm... hello! he's a 5 month old terrier! (said in my Alicia Sliverstone - Clueless voice) After going through the checklist and what we wanted and didn't want I asked how long it would take and they said he would be done at 1:30p. 1:30p? That was 4hours away... I had to leave my pet child with strangers for the very first time for 4 hours? :(  I had a tough time with this but ultimately left him.

Wow, I can't believe I've gone on about a dogs hair cut for 2 paragraphs already... 2 hours later (they gave us a call) we went to pick Oliver up and we were so surprised at how much older he looked. They did a wonderful job.

Check out this before picture...

And this is what we got when we picked him up!

He has eyes!! (And he looks slightly pissed at me in this picture!)

Well, then of course we had to do a photo shoot with him.

All in all it was a good experience for us. Maybe not so much for Oliver. The groomer did tell me that he did very well for a puppy's first time and he loved the tooth paste! (It was chicken flavored- can you image brushing your teeth with chicken flavored tooth paste?)
