bathroom maddness!

Creative title, uh?!  This weekend our master bathroom got an organization overhaul. We visited  the Container store and picked up a few goodies to help us out.

First off, the toilet paper situation. This is our before... the toilet paper just chills on top of the tank.

It doesn't look bad, but it (the toilet paper) does happen to fall off the tank some times, especially in those wee hours of the morning when I try my hardest not to open my eyes in hopes that when I make it back to the bed I will fall immediately back to sleep (rarely happens).

So, we picked up this nifty over the tank toilet paper roll holder at The Container Store for only $9.99!

(I know, exciting!)

Now, for the towel issue. Our bath towels would hang on a hook on the back of the door and they wouldn't dry correctly before we used them again (yes, we use our towels a few times before washing- it's not gross!). So we started by removing the hook from the door.

And then we picked up this towel holder from The Container Store for $14.99.

It's not the prettiest thing, but it was the only one in our budget and this bathroom is rarely used by guests so really only the Husband and I will see this.

Next, the vanity and medicine cabinet clean out. It wasn't horrible, but it was definitely time to clean it out and reorganize.

Here is our vanity area, pretty uh?!

I started with the cabinet under the sink. Man, was this dusty. Here it is before:

I cleared everything out.

And I wiped down the inside of the cabinet and the cabinet doors and handles with warm soapy water.

After wiping everything down I started going through all the items and then I found this at the bottom of one of the baskets. A bottle of soap was partially open, laying on it's side...  FAIL - this is what happens when you don't clean out your cabinets in a year. :\

So I took it outside and hosed it down.

Then begin putting everything back together. I grouped all the big bottles and placed them in this basket.

Next, I cleaned out my mani/ pedi kit and got rid of tons of nail polish that was old. Now, I'm only left with pink! Haha! Time to go shopping for some new colors!

Then all my cosmetic bags found a home in a bigger bag.

Lots of items got trashed, like body wash I'll never use (like the one that spilled all over the bottom of the basket) and body spray and products that we bought and they just didn't work out.

The rest of the items where placed in this under the cabinet drawer system that we picked at The Container Store for $17.99.

Oliver got involved in the organizing fun too!

Then everything got put back in the cabinet.

SO MUCH BETTER!! And easily accessible now.



The medicine cabinet came next. Here is the before.

I removed everything from the cabinet and wiped the cabinet down with warm soapy water. I regrouped like items together and made sure to only have items that we use frequently in this cabinet.

No wow factor here but it's now clean and organized. :)

Finally the drawers got a wipe down and sprucing too.

I moved my make up caddy to the other bathroom. My work schedule has changed and now I wake up an hour and half earlier then the guys in my life so I get ready in the other bathroom so they can get that precious hour of sleep. :)

The husband's drawer... he doesn't take up much space.

(Yup! We cleared out an entire drawer!)

And our teeth care drawer, I didn't have a before picture.

And that's how I spent about 2 1/2 hours of my Saturday. Totally worth it! :)
